Ray the Random Robot Successfully Starts Smart Live Spread Betting
It's been an extremely busy week for Ray the Random Robot™, and he has undergone a number of cloning operations. First of all the MetaTrader 5 Automated Trading Championship 2010 finally got underway at midnight on Sunday, Moscow time. Ray's multi-currency MT5 clone started perfectly, but he has had some teething troubles with EUR/USD and has now slipped back to 273rd position out of 314.
Ray's multi-currency MetaTrader 4 clone is currently doing much better than that. Ray got very excited at the idea of being able to attend the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix on an all expenses trip paid for by MIG Bank, so he made a last minute entry into their FX Grand Prix trading contest, which started at exactly the same time as the MT5 championship. He was quite happy this morning to discover he had already made 10% profit in less than a week. Then he checked the leaderboard and got very depressed. The current leader, who appears to be a human called Rick, is up 297%!
Ray's Java clone started trading in the October 2010 Dukascopy JForex strategy contest on Sunday night too, but this clone is performing worst of all. Firstly one of Ray's 50 pip stop-losses got slipped 25 pips. Then his shiny new Java Martingale Money Management Module (MMMM for short) sprang into action, but got its sums wrong and Ray asked Dukascopy for more pounds than they were prepared to give him. Finally to add even more insult to injury Dukascopy hit him with a margin cut earlier this morning, and he has already sunk to 91st position out of a current total of only 92 entrants!
However at the end of the day we all know that what really matters is how a trading system performs using real hard cash in a real live trading account, and not what happens using contest or demo accounts. Ray was extremely apprehensive when we took yet another clone of his multi-currency MetaTrader 4 incarnation and let it loose on a live spread betting account at Smart Live Markets. This morning however, Ray is as pleased as Punch to discover that after one or two more teething troubles, his real money account is currently also up 10% after less than 4 full days trading:

Has Ray considered applying for position of Governor of the Bank of England? Or Chancellor of the Exchequor maybe?

Hi Laurence,
Do you think a random robotic hand on the tiller of the Great British Pound would produce a better outcome for all us long suffering Poor British Taxpayers than the current mechanism?
